Netscape announced that it will bundle Net2Phone’s Net2Speak Internet telephony software as part of its next-generation Communicator Web browser. Net2Phone’s partnership with Netscape led to the mainstreaming of Internet telephony, but analysts wondered if users were ready to use their computers to make calls over the Internet. Analysts at consulting firm TeleChoice say that this collaboration may make Net2Speak a de facto standard for VOIP technology.
