Leonard Talmy proposed in lexicalization mode that language can be divided into verb framework language and syllabic framework language. In this dichotomy, modern Chinese is the same as English, and belongs to the syllabic framework language. Talmy’s dichotomy theory applies to the entire macro event, and most of the current research focused on sports events. Based on the lexicalization model, this paper studies the lexicalization patterns of the changes in the state of affairs in the state change events, and aims to classify and discuss the lexicalization patterns of modern Chinese in the field of state change through empirical research. The essay randomly selects fifteen Chinese verbs, conducts interviews and recordings on thirty native speakers of Chinese, and establishes a closed-corpus of small Chinese. After finishing the data analysis, it is found that the modern Chinese expressions of events of state of affairs present two lexical patterns of verb framework and satellite framework. The corpus supports the following conclusions: In the field of events of state of affairs, modern Chinese is a complementary language.
