荥阳原武温穆王墓是明代周王家族中郡王等级的原武温穆王与元配张太妃的合葬墓。从其墓室建筑的构造与形象风格分析,其图样设计及营造技术明显来自明代宫廷,但从主室门扉的断砌造构造、前室空间尺度的着意设计以便家族后续事宜安排等细节设计方面也透露出了家族意识可能参与其中的信息。经折算,原武温穆王墓的设计模数是营造尺,其各部分构造的数据之间存在着较规整、和谐的比例关系,而营造尺模数的基础是人体尺度,反映了中国古代建筑以人为本的设计思想。主室前壁高等级的建筑形象以几何比例为则的设计手法令人耳目一新,这种艺术优先的设计手法在中国古代宫廷主导的建筑实例上早有存在,并非西方所独有。
