五十五年以前,河珂惠支的版画第一次在中国结集出版时,鲁迅写道:“在女性的艺术家中,震动了世界的现在几乎无出于凯馁·珂罗惠支之上”。1927年,作家罗曼·罗兰曾赞颂她说:“这有丈夫气的女性,用了忧郁和纤细的同情,把平民的困苦与悲痛收在她的眼里与慈母般的腕下。这是做了牺牲的人民的沉默的声音”。戏剧家霍普特曼致函她说:“你的无声的线描,侵人心髓,如一种惨苦的呼声;希腊和罗马时代都没有听过的呼声。”
