1937年卢沟桥事变前夕,蒋介石和汪精卫联名邀请全国各界代表与学者名流到九江庐山开座谈会,征询对国事的意见。7月11日,座谈会如时召开,前来参加会议的社会名流为数不少。蒋介石的侍从室人员在安排席位时,颇费了一番考虑,最后决定把同姓的人安排坐在一起。当时出席庐山会议的有好几位胡姓名流,他们是胡适、胡安定、胡次戚、胡健中等。而胡健中的座位刚好紧靠着胡适的右手。座谈会开始
