本世纪全球石油界第一次盛会──第十六届世界石油大会６月１１日至１５日在加拿大卡尔加里召开，来自９５个国家的２８００多名代表汇聚一堂，回顾石油工业取得的成绩，展望石油工业的未来发展趋势，相互交流最新技术成果和经营管理经验，共同探讨解决问题的政策与措施，以求实现大会提出的“把人才、业务和技术联系起来，创造价值、发展全球石油工业”的目标，为石油工业在人类社会发展进程中起到了更加积极的推动作用。请看本刊特派记者发自加拿大的报道：
