The introduction of Chinese medicine into the Philippines began in the late 16th century and Chinese emigrated to this place in 1581 AD. With the increasing business exchanges between China and the Philippines and the growing number of expatriates living in China, and the need for medical care, traditional Chinese medicine has gradually spread to the Philippines and spread to the people. In 1789, China’s Chongren Hospital was established by the Overseas Chinese Community of Manila and began to receive medical treatment through regular Chinese medical institutions. The impact was considerable. In 1917, the Philippine government limited the scope of use of Chinese medicine, and stipulated that Chinese medicine was limited to selling to overseas Chinese. The establishment of a pharmacy must be approved by the government through a pharmacist examination (ie, a Chinese medicine practitioner must be qualified to obtain a pharmacist’s qualification).
