Recently, Ma Guohua and Mei Li, writers living along the Great Wall, published the novel ”The Great Ridge“ [1] and ”The Buddha’s Ear Song“ respectively [2]. These two novels mainly focus on rural life around the Great Wall. The two novels described the peasants and the rural areas during the reform period as real and severe, especially the Great Wall’s existence in the works, which made the novel more symbolic enough to trigger people’s multi-dimensional thinking and questioning. Ma Guohua, author of ”The Great Wall Ridge,“ said in a postscript that this is a novel entitled ”The Great Wall of the Mainland", which calls for sustainable development, protecting the environment, purifying the soul and encouraging self-reflection
