According to the latest report by the British “Daily Telegraph”, cakes, cookies and sugary drinks are often added to the diet to increase the risk of colorectal cancer. The research team at Edinburgh University in the United Kingdom studied the health effects of risk factors such as exercise, diet, and smoking. They surveyed 2,000 cancer patients in the same area and 3,000 general volunteers. Food statistics of respondents eat more than 170 kinds of food, including fruits and vegetables, meat, chocolate and so on. The results showed that the highest intake of colorectal cancer risk increased by 18% compared with those who consumed the least amount of high-energy foods. However, they also found that people who regularly drink coffee have a 8% lower risk of developing colorectal cancer.
