In this paper, the sister chromatid exchange (SCE) of bone marrow cells in six healthy individuals was studied. Compared with peripheral blood lymphocytes, SCE was significantly lower and constant. The range of change for each metaphase is 3.64 to 4.65. Bone marrow cells were obtained from brothers and sisters of leukemia patients (three men and three women) and cultured in medium RPMI 1640 supplemented with 20% calf serum for 50 hours without PHA. The culture time was either long or short, ie, it showed a measurable percentage of the intermediate metaphase and the final concentration of 5-bromodeoxyuridine (BudR) was 10-15 μM. Plasmodamide (0.02 μg/kg) was added 2 hours before the termination of culture.
