学术界对犯罪学学科的认识有些不同的看法，按瓜严格的科学标准，许多提法都或多或少地存在一些不准确和不够科学的方面。首先，认为犯罪学是基础性的应用学科的定位，这一提法存在着矛盾，存在学与术不分的弊病。其次，将犯罪学定位为应用学科更不科学，实际上降低了犯罪学的学科地位。再次，说犯罪学是一门独立性的综合学科，从科学意义上看亦有不妥。第四，说犯罪学是一门综合性的社会科学的提法过于笼统和抽象。笔者认为，犯罪学的科学定位是，犯罪学是一个带有学科群性质的大领域的基础社会科学的学科门类。
In academic circles, there is a somewhat different view on the subject of criminology. According to strict scientific standards, many of the formulations have more or less inaccurate and unscientific aspects. First of all, think criminology is the basic positioning of applied disciplines, there are contradictions in this formulation, there are drawbacks of learning and surgery. Second, positioning criminology as a more unscientific application of science actually reduces the academic status of criminology. Once again, criminology is an independent and comprehensive subject, which is also not scientific in the sense of the word. Fourthly, the formulation of criminology as a comprehensive social science is too generic and abstract. The author thinks that the scientific orientation of criminology is that criminology is a subject category of basic social science with a large area of subject group.
