During the late Qing dynasty and early Republic of China, the best-of-breed version of the scholar and bibliophile Yang Shou-jing (1839-1915), during his stay in Japan as Minister of Japan, searched and copied a large number of Chinese books and obtained tens of thousands of volumes, some of which were already in mainland China Lost lost the lonely version, including the very precious Six Dynasties and Tang Dynasty transcripts, as well as the rare Song and Yuan dynasties in the world. The Book of Japanese Visits is the summary directory of Yang Shou-jing’s writings on these groups of Chinese.
