2000年12月2日,由中国海洋石油总公司牵头承担的国家863计划重大项目“莺琼大气区勘探关键技术”通过国家科技部的验收。南海莺琼盆地有丰富的天然气资源,但该盆地中深层高温超压的特点影响着大气区的勘探进度。1997年5月,“莺琼大气区勘探关键技术”作为国家863计划重大科研项目通过立项论证。该项目由海上中深层高分辨率地震勘探技术、海上多波地震勘探技术、高性能优质钻井液和完井液的研制、精确的地层压力预测和监测技术、高温超压地层测试技术5个课题组成,这5个课题均是实现南海天然气勘探突破的关键性技
