湖南省博物馆馆藏四幅帛画:战国时期的《人物龙凤图》和《人物御龙图》,马王堆一号和三号墓出土的西汉帛画,它们都属于旌幡,具有引魂升天的含义。四幅帛画中都有龙、鱼、鸟的组合。在汉代的画像石中,也有一些龙、鱼、鸟的组合。黄帝乘龙升仙、琴高乘鱼升仙等故事,是人们向往且积极模仿的,鹤、凤、雀等鸟也被视为具有灵性的动物,龙、鱼、鸟成为人们想象中的升仙工具。从先秦时期开始,人们在表达升仙寓意的画面中,往往把三者或其中两者组合在一起,共同承载亡魂升天。明晰了三者组合的含义,可以更合理地解释汉画像石中一些图像的意蕴。
