The topic of the tsunami commemoration contest is “boat” built in a special rainforest. It is designed to rebuild and hope. People can memorialize in their own way. The project entered from a memorial building, where one could pick up a leaf of bamboo to form a memorial ship and drop it into the water. At the seaside, people can see their bamboo leaves floating to the sea until they disappear from the horizon. Architectural design is inspired by the location of the project: it has a narrow cross-section along the canyon. The use of bamboo as a building material is linked to architecture and commemoration. In traditional Thai architecture, the building is connected by a series of pavilion-like houses under an open roof under a large roof. Slope roof with large eaves to block the sun and rain. Semi-outdoor space is like space regulator. The structure of the tropical architecture is displayed outside. The project uses steel to load-bearing the facade with glass and pre-set bamboo for shading. All the materials are environmentally friendly and respond to the traditional building materials.
