一九七一年八月下旬,我与妻儿第一次游旧金山,就想到卡密尔(Carmel)访问张大千先生。我们打了一个电话,才获悉张大师到纽约去检查眼睛。十一月中旬我们又到旧金山,为了筹备一个画展,有一段比较长的时间在此逗留,作好事先安排,便决定前往访问这位前辈。
In late August 1971, my first trip to San Francisco with my wife and son came to Carmel to visit Mr. Zhang Daqian. We made a phone call before we learned that Master Zhang went to New York to examine his eyes. In mid-November we went to San Francisco again. In preparation for an exhibition, it took a long time for us to stay here and make advance arrangements before deciding to visit the predecessor.
