A Driver Manipulation System has been successfully developed by the South Australian Institute of Technology. The system provides guidance to long train drivers to ensure trains arrive at stations and cars on time with minimal energy consumption. It is estimated that the system can save more than 10%. Dynamic scheduling software is currently under development and will help train dispatchers determine when and where cars will be presented.
