Maldives is a very strange Indian Ocean kingdom, about 90,000 square kilometers of land area of 99.7% are marine, land area of only 300 square kilometers, and the incarnation of thousands of small islands dotted spread on the sea, the average Less than 1 meter above sea level. One of the largest islands, however, is a few square kilometers and the youngest island has only a handful of reefs ready for engulfing the sea in a storm. For a country with an average altitude of less than 1 meter, a tsunami is deadly. That is why the government of the Maldives has been opening up a new artificial island behind Airport Island in 1997. The artificial island is more than 2 meters above sea level, larger than any existing island and can accommodate hundreds of thousands of people. The Maldivians are moving in a planned way to this artificial island. Even if the natural islands of the Maldives are really disappearing due to sea level rise in the future, they should not have to worry about nothing.
