从形态上看,《国语》的流传过程中有原宋刊本、校刊本、影钞本、校宋本、重雕本等几种样式。钱氏藏宋刊本已经毁于火灾,朝鲜集贤殿校刊本恐怕是目前存世最早的明道本刊本。中国本土流传有钱钞本、毛钞本两部,钱钞本叠经传抄,下落不明,毛钞本则辗转入藏日本静嘉堂文库。清代前期及中期的学者依据钞本留下了一定数量的校宋本,为保存、流播明道本《国语》的实际面貌做了一定贡献。黄丕烈根据传抄本、校宋本刻成的读未见书斋重雕天圣明道本《国语》第一次使学者有了可以依据的固定的文本形态,对明道本《国语》的传播具有极大的贡献。无论是抄写的方式,还是后来石印的方式,都不可避免地存在失真的问题,故而在使用黄刊明道本及其覆刻本时也需要注意。
