甜菜种子盒式发芽法,是从国外引进的新技术,是国际上通用的发芽方法。目前,我省已在生产上应用推广了这项新技术。1984年我省共收购甜菜种子4600吨,对2400份甜菜种子样品进行了发芽试验,证明了这种发芽方法效果明显、科学、可靠,与其它发芽方法相比,具有节省时间、操作方便、管理容易、条件一致、结果准确等优点。盒式发芽方法是用长21.5厘米,宽12.0厘米,高5.2厘米无毒无味有机玻璃盒,内装长202厘米,宽11厘米,有50个褶痕的吸滤纸和长43厘米,宽11厘米的覆盖纸,把冲洗消毒好的种子样品放入盒中,加入一定量的水,放在适宜的温度条件下进行发芽。
