白旗兜兰是云南省普洱市翠云区林业局森林资源监测站工程师叶德平,于2003年在云南普洱市首次发现的中国兰科兜兰属新纪录种,已被列入《全国极小种群野生植物拯救保护工程规划(2011~2015年)》和国家林业局2012年救护繁育野生植物重点物种名单。鉴于种群稀少,就地保护已很难对现有种群进行有效保护,中国科学院西双版纳热带植物园研究院高江云及其 Baiqi Paphiopedilum is a new record of the first Chinese orchid Paphiopedilum species discovered in Pu’er, Yunnan in 2003 by Ye Deping, an engineer at the Forest Resources Monitoring Station of the Forestry Bureau of Cui Yun District of Pu’er City, Yunnan Province. It has been included in the “ Plant conservation and protection project planning (2011 ~ 2015) ”and the State Forestry Administration in 2012 ambulance breeding wildlife species list of key species.
