拜上帝教是宗教,但其教义包含人人平等的反封建的革命内容。革命初期利用宗教形式,推行革命的内容,是与当时群众的觉悟相适应的。建都天京后,洪秀全组织大规模删书,强调皇上帝独一真神的地位,即发展拜上帝教的宗教迷信成分,从而削弱了革命的内容,这是洪秀全由革命转向迷信的重要标志,也是太平天国内部矛盾的反映。从客观上看,删书不仅没有增加反封建迷信的内容,反而成了把革命引向失败的契机。
The worship of God is religious, but its teaching contains anti-feudal revolutionary content that is equal for all. The use of religious forms and the promotion of revolutionary content in the early days of the revolution were compatible with the masses’ awareness of the time. After the founding of Beijing in the capital, Hong Xiuquan organized a large-scale deletion of books, emphasizing the status of the only true God of the Emperor of God, that is, the development of religious superstition that worships God’s religion and thus weakened the content of the revolution. This is an important symbol of Hong Xiuquan’s shift from revolution to superstition. It is also a reflection of the contradictions within the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. Objectively speaking, the book deletion not only failed to increase the content of anti-feudal superstition, but instead turned the revolution to failure.
