20世纪五六十年代,中国在上海和大连之间曾开展过1.5t箱和5t箱的集装箱货物运输,但维持时间不长。1973年9月,中国外轮代理公司、中国远洋运输总公司、中国对外贸易运输总公司与日本新和海运株式会社、日新仓库株式会社协商合作,使用5t铁质小型集装箱在上海港、天津新港与日本横滨港、神户港等港口间进行国际航线集装箱试运,由此正式拉开了中国集装箱运输发展的序幕。1978年9月26日,上海远洋运输公司“平乡城”轮装载162个集装箱由上海出发运往澳大利亚,开辟了中国第一条国际集装箱班轮航线。
In the 1950s and 1960s, China carried out the container cargo transport of 1.5t and 5t containers between Shanghai and Dalian, but it did not last long. In September 1973, China Shipping Agency, China Ocean Shipping Corporation and China Foreign Trade and Transportation Corporation, in consultation with Nippon Shinku Shipping Co., Ltd. and Nisshin Warehousing Co., Ltd., used 5t iron small containers in Shanghai Port, Tianjin New Port And Japan Yokohama Port, Kobe Port and other ports of international container shipping trial, which officially opened the prelude to the development of China’s container shipping. On September 26, 1978, Shanghai Ocean Shipping Company Pingxiang City loaded 162 containers from Shanghai to Australia and opened up China’s first international container liner service.
