2011年9月向京将在北京今日美术馆举办题为“这个世界会好吗?”的个展,在这次展览中向京将跳出为众人所熟悉的“女性身体”的系列创作,并以“杂技”和“动物”作为主题,去面对一个比纯粹的个人情感体验更为复杂和庞大的“处境”问题——“在我们必须面对的权力系统、社会制度和各种制约结构里,我们的处境怎样,个人的处境怎样?”——在采访过程中向京也反复提到了自己对于“存在感”的思考,作为生活在现代社会中的孤单个体,我们的“存在感”总是被各种快速变换的结构不停地打磨并塑造着,我们究竟应该如何看待自己?是在群情激愤的全民“围观”中溶解掉孤独的自我?还是在“被围观”的尴尬处境中固执地品尝着自我存在的艰辛?在这个敞开的问题中,或许并不存在固定的答案,而向京也期望观众和评论者能一起参与到关于“处境”和“存在感”的共同讨论之中。在采访结束之后,我突然想到了翟永明曾经写过的一段话:“听到这世界的声音,……太阳的光线悲哀地笼罩着我,当你俯身世界时是否知道你遗落了什么?”
