Amorphous silicon-based alloy semiconductor material is developed in recent years, a new type of optoelectronic functional materials. Due to its broad application background in optoelectronic technology, especially its successful application in thin film solar cells and large area thin film field effect transistor (TFT) matrix and various sensitive devices, the international scientific and technological community has given this kind of new material research A high degree of attention. In particular, the study of the basic physical problems of such materials has its profound academic value and important guiding significance for the application. Since the late 1970s, China has more departments to study amorphous semiconductors. After many years of work during the “Sixth Five-Year Plan” and the “Seventh Five-Year Plan”, many aspects are at the international level. In 1989, the NSFC approved the “Study of Some Physical Problems in Amorphous Semiconductors” as a major project aimed at strengthening the research of fundamental physics in this field and promoting the application and development. This major project consists of five sub-topics, which are undertaken by 10 units of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the State Education Commission. This article briefly introduces the research significance of the project, the current progress and future plans and ideas.
