The Swedish-born American engineer K.P. Bilner invented the basic method of vacuum absorption of concrete in 1935 and obtained a patent. Over the next decade or so, due to the overemphasis on the development of dry concrete (water-cement ratio 0.28 to 0.32, slump 0 to 3) in some countries, the vacuum concrete process has developed slowly. However, through practice, dry hard concrete has many insurmountable disadvantages, such as relatively small water ash, poor workability, difficulty in stirring, forming, and vibrating, complicated equipment used, and fast wear of mechanical parts and excessive noise during vibration.
