“回归本土化设计观”其本质是唤醒大众对“本土文化”的意识,是让建筑回归当地文化精神的一种设计观念。其实对于这个观念在有些建筑上得到了完美的呈现,比如说贝聿铭的苏州博物馆新馆和王澍的宁波博物馆,本文就是通过对以上两馆的分析来进一步了解和认识建筑回归本土的内涵。贝老的新馆是苏州传统建筑风格和现代建筑风格的融合,是从风格、装饰上回归本土化的建筑。王澍的宁波博物馆是从材料、意韵上体现本土化设计观念,瓦爿墙是其建筑一大特色,材料来自周边地区的旧砖瓦、陶片等,利用这一系列旧材料的意义在于他们有着对时间保存的价值,他们见证了历史的变迁,这正符合博物馆“收集历史”的文化理念,从这个建筑上我们可以体会到记忆和延续的情怀。
