In the summer of 1995, the Okinawa Trough geology and geophysical survey carried out trawling of seabed rocks and collected fresh basalt samples along the southwestern edge of the submarine depressions. The rock samples were identified by thin section, petrochemical analysis, rare earth and trace element analysis and silver isotope analysis. The results show that the rock is characterized by olive tholeiitic basalts, and the distribution of trace elements and rare earth elements in the rocks is characterized by slow basal middling ridges.
