用地与养地,是辩证的统一;地光用不养,势必越种越坏,产量下降。五一农埸的经验证明,广种苜蓿,实行轮作,用地与养地相鲒合,是促进农业稳产高产的一条重要途径。 苜蓿多,畜多,肥多,粮多 种植苜蓿,可以收获大量的牧草发展畜牧业,多得肥料,又可培肥地力,从而促进农业增产。五一农埸从建埸起就种植苜蓿,面积逐年扩大,一九七三年老苜蓿面积达6,700亩,除按轮作倒茬要求耕翻一部分外,又计划新种3,500亩,一九七四年苜蓿面积将占到耕地面积的20—25％。与此同时,畜牧业逐年增长,牲畜头数从一九五七年建场初期的25头发展到一九七一年的6,371头,为农业提供了大量肥料。粮食单产,则由一九五七年的49.5斤,逐年提高到一九七一年的327.9斤。
