航空进入喷气时代以来,航空发动机高空模拟试验设备(简称高空台)的作用逐渐被人们所认识,得到了广泛的应用和发展。从1937年德国建立第一座冲压式发动机高空台并在其后进行了V-1脉冲式喷气发动机高空风洞试验起,全世界已有德、美、英、法、前苏联和中国等先后建立了各种不同类型的高空台约35套;试验舱约100个。近年来,气源能力与试验舱尺寸越建越大,功能越来越强,控制与测试越来越精。这些对世界航空动力技术的发展起到了极大的推动作用。
