The results of photocatalytic oxidation of methane under mild conditions using aqueous Nb-MCM-41 mesoporous molecular sieves as catalyst show that the reactivity of Nb-MCM-41 is higher than that of Nb2O5 and there is a certain amount of methanol and traces of formaldehyde generate
