Injecting the elements and impetus of China, the largest developing country, TWAS has usher in a new stage of development. Meanwhile, the Chinese Academy of Sciences has stood at a new historical starting point for cooperation with developing countries. On the morning of September 18, a long round of applause came from the auditorium in Tianjin. At the 23rd Academician's Meeting of the Academy of Science in Developing Countries (TWAS) here, Bai Chunli was elected with the highest number of votes as the new president. This is an internationally renowned scientific organization founded nearly 30 years ushered in the first Chinese president. 411 representatives of science and technology leaders and scientists from the major developing countries in the world and some developed countries witnessed this historic moment.
