朱一玄先生毕生致力于中国古代小说史料的搜集、整理。秉着严谨的治学态度与执著的毅力,他笑耕不缀,构建起以专书资料、专题资料和综合型资料为核心的古代小说史料体系,并在这一过程中确立了“五编结构”史料编纂体例与独具特色的操作规范。这样的完备体系和规范体例,使小说史料丛书具备了学术著作的品格,也确立了朱一玄先生的史料学大师地位。当然,朱氏小说史料中的某些疏失,以及朱一玄先生之未能完成中国古代小说史料学构建,也是不无遗憾的。

Certainly, some omissions in the historical materials of Zhu’s novels and the failure of Mr. Zhu Yixuan to complete the construction of the historical materials of ancient Chinese novels are not without regret.
