The 1500MW Nutepa Ihakri project is the largest hydropower project currently under construction in India. It encountered some geotechnical problems, including high temperature water problems encountered in excavation of diversion tunnels and construction branch holes. Discusses the treatment of the problem at the construction site, the related tunnel lining design and the special protection measures to be taken when the tunnel is finally filled with water.
