中国古代玉器造型式样世代相传、不断发展,成为自成体系的文化形态。玉器的造型从表面上看是繁复多样、不断变化的,从原始社会玉器的简单古朴、商周玉器的森严神秘、春秋战国玉器的开放疏朗、汉代玉器的古朴厚重、唐代玉器的饱满奔放、宋辽金玉器的精练传神、元代玉器的立体感强到明清玉器的绮丽精巧,透过表面看深层,在纷杂的、互不相同的造型中,则可以寻找到其潜在的联系,总结出其共有的造型特点,发掘出深蕴其中的共同的美学精神。从审美角度研究玉器造型,有助于加深对古玉的了解,也能进一步体会中国文化之精妙。
