有人说,长城是凝固的历史,大运河是流动的文化。确实,大运河作为世界上开凿时间最早、规模最大、里程最长的运河,经历了上千年的沧桑风雨,养育了一代又一代的中华儿女,积淀了内容丰富、底蕴深厚的运河文化,记录了中国古代政治、经济、文化、科技、军事等方方面面的丰富信息。它是中国悠久历史的缩影,是中华文明传承发展的纽带。运河的畅通,繁荣了沿岸很多城镇,新市、王江泾、塘栖等一个个古镇,见证着千百年间沧海桑田的变化。
Some people say that the Great Wall is a frozen history, the Grand Canal is a mobile culture. Indeed, the Grand Canal, as the earliest and largest scale and longest running canal in the world, has experienced thousands of years of vicissitudes and ravages, has raised generations of Chinese sons and daughters, has accumulated rich and profound canal culture and has recorded China’s ancient political, economic, cultural, scientific and technological, military and other aspects of the rich information. It is a microcosm of the long history of China and a link in the development of Chinese civilization. The smooth flow of the canal and the prosperity of many towns along the coast, the new city, Wang Jiangjing, Tangqi, an ancient town, witnessed the changes of thousands of years.
