在橡胶园及其防风林更新时,用人工倒树和挖根,不仅劳动强度大,而且效率低。为此,华南热带作物机械化研究所曾研制成TW—3型推树挖根机。该机1983年在湛江红星农场使用时,平均生产率超过150株/班·台,是人工伐倒树效率(12株/人·日)的12.5倍。作业成本曾低至平均每株0.56元,比人倒树0.86元/株降低34.9%。能适用于树径20~40厘米的橡胶树和树径为15~30厘米的防风林的倒树作业,也可用于挖起已腐树桩和伐后树蔸。该机可利用农场现有动力,可与东方红—75或东方红—60拖
