M16/M16A1步枪及其所用附件服役时间较长,至今仍有军事单位在使用,其间经历了越南战争等重大历史事件;1960年代后半叶,尼龙和塑料等新材料的引入,更是对其各种附件产生了极大的影响。本文主要介绍1960年代至1970年代期间M16及M16A1步枪使用的各种附件。
