3G时代,当其他电信运营商在资源上和中国移动“平起平坐”时,中移动凭什么来维系其“老大”的地位?“,”Wang Jianzhou, President of China Mobile, once compared the company's rapid development to a “dancing elephant”. Topping by market value amid telecom operators worldwide, China Mobile is indeed a vivid embodiment of “elephant dance” in all senses. But with the upheavals of the telecom industry and the ever approaching 3G era, the big elephant is now forced to transform itself by overhauling its product and service chains. In 2006, there have been signs showing that China Mobile is aiming to shift its role from a “mobile telecom expert” to a “mobile information expert” by providing more digitalizeds ervices. With this goal in mind, China Mobile will launch “mobile-information machines” in Zhejiang province next year. Its product R&D and upgrading are also in full swing. Besides launching new products toattract subscribers to its own market, China Mobile has made inroads into its rivals' market. Since 2006, the company has been expanding its business into the rural areas previously dominated by China Telecom by providing PushMail service and building a national service network. China Mobile is also overhauling its service providers. Its Monternet (Mobile Internet) can only survive after being transformed, adding more value to its services: cell phone music is proved to be a revenue booster, mobile media and multi-functional terminals are further promoted.
