作为联合国援助龙门石窟保护修复项目的一部分,潜溪寺石刻雕像表面清洗研究意图在于通过对以往资料的整理、现场病害调查、石窟造像表面保存状况的分类与取样分析,了解石窟保存状况,同时对石刻造像的清洗研究进行初步的探索,并对清洗过程中发现的考古学信息进行分析和研究,总结出适合潜溪寺的清洗流程和方法。进行现场病害调查,通过形态学对表面的保存状况进行分类并进行取样分析,考察其成分、结构,并通过离子色谱对各种类型的沉积物中可溶盐的种类与含量进行判定,衡量其稳定性。参考多方面的指标,对不同部位、不同类型的沉积物的清洗订立标准。清洗过程中,首先通过小面积的试验区掌握清洗方法,包括多种物理方法的试用,并在实验室内针对样品试验了部分化学清洗方法。在清洗过程中针对不同情况及时调整方法,并注意收集清洗之后获得的信息。
