[译文]楚地有个人怕鬼,每当听到枯叶落下和蛇鼠爬行的声音,都以为是在闹鬼。这事被一个小偷知道了。于是,小偷在深夜偷偷地爬上墙头,装作鬼叫。把那个楚人吓得都不敢斜看一眼。小偷这样做了四五次,然后就溜进楚人的屋里,把他屋里的财产洗劫一空。[小议]鬼是没有的,怕鬼不过是庸人自扰。但是,这样的人在我们的生活中也还不少。他们疑神疑鬼,胆小如鼠,关键时刻,连捍卫自己权益的勇气都没有,尽管如此,他们最终还是要倒霉在“真鬼”手里。 [译文] There are individuals in Chu who are afraid of ghosts, and whenever they hear the falling leaves and the crawling sound of snake rats, they all think they are haunted. This matter was known to a thief. As a result, the thief secretly climbed the wall in the middle of the night, pretend to be gossip. Be scared of that Chu are not inclined to glance. Thieves did this four or five times before slipping into the Chu people’s house and looting his house of property. [Discussion] Ghost is not, but the ghost of fear is mediocre. However, such people in our lives are also many. They are suspicious, timid as mice, the critical moment, and even the courage to defend their own rights and interests are not, however, they eventually bad luck in the hands of “true ghost.”
