我国古脊椎动物学的开拓者和奠基者、中国古生物学会的创始人之一——杨钟健同志,因病于1979年1月15日在北京逝世,享年82岁。他一生从事地层古生物学的研究,足迹遍及祖国各地。他的研究工作涉及地层古生物、古人类及考古学等广泛的领域,先后完成学术论文五百多篇,为我国及亚洲古脊椎动物学的发展奠定了基础,为整个古脊椎动物科学的发展作出了卓越的贡献。杨老于1956年加入中国共产党。粉碎“四人帮”后,他写了“年近八旬心尚丹,欲和同辈共登攀”的豪迈诗句。直到生命的垂危时刻,他仍关切着我国古脊椎动物学与古人类学的发展,计划如何把北京自然博物馆办成一个具有国际水平的自然历史博物馆。
As one of the pioneers and founders of ancient vertebrate zoology in China, one of the founders of the Chinese Society of Paleontology, Comrade Yang Zhongjian, died of an illness in Beijing on January 15, 1979, at the age of 82. His life engaged in the study of stratigraphic paleontology, footprints all over the motherland. His research involves a wide range of fields such as stratigraphic paleontology, ancients and archeology. He has completed more than 500 academic articles and laid the foundation for the development of ancient vertebrate zoology in China and Asia to provide scientific advice for the development of the entire vertebrate science of vertebrates Outstanding contribution. Yang Lao joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1956. After the smashing of the “Gang of Four,” he wrote the heroic poem “Nearly 80-year-old is still Dan, want to ascend with his peers.” Until the dying moment of his life, he is still concerned about the development of ancient vertebrates and paleoanthropologies in China and plans to make the Beijing Natural History Museum a natural history museum with world-class standards.
