佛教传入我国的同时,也带来了佛教艺术。有东方艺术瑰宝之称的敦煌莫高窟壁画就是其中的典型代表。我们习惯认识上的敦煌壁画是比较刻意、工整,具有华丽、装饰性强甚至类似于民间画工的画种。其实并不尽言,由于所处的年代、社会背景、社会动荡及繁荣程度不同,对佛教教义认识程度、民族审美习惯、画工的理解和表达不一样,所以呈现出来的绘画风格也不尽相同,可以说是天壤之别,给观者以截然不同的艺术感受。
