苏联科学院物植生理研究所和普里莫尔斯克农业科学研究所采用一种新的确定氮磷钾适宜用量的方法对大豆等作物进行研究,并获得了一系列资料。以往的研究方法是寻找氮磷钾三元素中每个元素的用量,这样需要的处理数目过多,而且容易将真正的适宜量遗漏。因此,结果不甚精确。新方法的指导思想是把N、P、K总量作为一个整体因子,把其中各元素间比例作为另一个整体因子,在分别确定这两个整体因子的适宜水平后就可以计算出每个元素的适宜用量。
