Calcium plays an important role in the normal function of bones, teeth and cells as well as some physiological and biochemical reactions in the human body and is an essential element for the survival of humans and animals. Due to different eating habits, the amount of calcium that people take from food is quite different. In western countries, the amount of calcium normally consumed per person per day is more than 1000 mg, whereas in many developing countries, calcium intake per person per day is 300 to 500 mg.
