Researchers at the Karlsruhe Materials Research Center have succeeded in creating multi-layered nanoparticles with fluorescent properties. The core of the nanomaterials is a metal oxide nanoparticle. An organic colorant covers the core with a layer of barrier and the outermost layer is coated with a polymer to protect it. So, the color of light-emitting pigment has many choices. This fluorescent particle can be used in many different applications. Especially for water or other solvents, it shows a high degree of stability and is non-toxic. In addition, it is also possible to combine other properties, for example, particles having fluorescent properties can also be magnetic at the same time.
