The book “Taoism and Traditional Chinese Music”, a masterpiece by young scholars Pu Hengqiang, was published by Taiwan’s Wenjin Publishing House. This is the first monograph on the study of Chinese Taoist music at home and abroad. Taoist music is a variety of musical genres that originated and developed in China, both closely related to traditional music and also have unique religious charm. It also contains extremely rich artistic, philosophical, aesthetic, cultural and historical values. As a field of the combination of musicology and religious studies, Taoist music research has put many traditional music scholars on the research agenda in recent years and has drawn increasing attention from overseas scholars. The author of this book has the foundation for teaching and researching Chinese traditional music for a long period of time. In recent years, it has devoted himself especially to the study of Taoist music.
