In 1940, W.J. Kroll proposed a new process for preparing titanium sponge by magnesium reduction of titanium tetrachloride and the rapid progress of vacuum arc melting technology, which laid the foundation for industrialized production of titanium. In 1948 the United States Du Bang company first started on the industrial scale production of titanium sponge. Subsequently, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom and Japan also started half-industrial or industrial production in 50, 51 and 52 years respectively. In the late 1940s and early 1950s, foreign titanium industry was established. Because of titanium and its alloys
