A team from the University of Tsukuba Surgery published a report on the success of simultaneous pancreas and kidney transplantation at the Japanese Society for Organ Transplantation, which was held on November 24 in Tokyo. Severely diabetic patients were transplanted into organs of women who were judged brain dead. The overall pancreas transplant is the first in Japan. The transplant patient was a 29-year-old man living in Ibaraki Prefecture. The patient underwent kidney dialysis in 1981, suffering from diabetes from the age of 12 due to pancreatic disorders and renal dysfunction several years ago. Because of the disorder in which the patient secretes insulin, the symptoms of diabetes are not improved even if his kidney function is preserved. At the same time, the patient also developed visual impairment. If left unchecked, neurological disorders and sensory disturbances may occur. To this end, from September onwards consider its transplant. A 43-year-old housewife with pancreas and kidneys.
