Immunohistochemistry was used to observe the development and differentiation of somatotropin (GH) cells in the distal part of the pituitary gland of Wistar rats at 1, 2, 3 weeks, 1 and 3 months after birth. On the first day after birth, a very small number of GH cells appear in the anterior and posterior part of the pituitary gland, and the secretory granules are small and are dyed brown or tan. GH cells increased in the first week, forming a semilunar region in the anterior and inferior part of the distal part. 2,3 weeks more, and extended to the Central District. In January, the cells spread to the distal part of the whole area. However, the cells with strong positive reaction were significantly more in the first half, especially in the marginal area, while the latter half were few, but they were near the middle part. By the end of March, GH cells were more scattered in the distal part of the body and were able to separate three types of cells, which were strong, moderate and weak, reflecting the difference in their functional status. With the development of the body, the number of GH cells gradually increased, and the morphological and functional differentiation gradually improved.
